Christmas — DMC Color Palette Guide
Christmas cross-stitch is a tradition that goes back generations — from stockings and tree ornaments to full-size samplers and Advent calendars. The classic Christmas palette is red, green, and gold, but getting the right shades makes the difference between festive and garish. These palettes cover the traditional holiday colors plus metallics and accents.

Tips for Using This Palette
- • DMC 321 (Christmas Red) and DMC 699 (Christmas Green) are the quintessential holiday pair — they appear in almost every Christmas pattern.
- • For gold lettering or outlines, DMC 783 gives a rich antique gold. Pair with DMC 782 for shadows.
- • Use DMC Blanc for bright snow highlights, DMC 3865 (Winter White) for snow in shadow, and DMC 762 for the coldest shadows.
- • Add DMC 321 backstitching around green holly leaves for a crisp, traditional look.
Thread conversions are approximate — always compare a small stitched sample when switching brands. See individual color pages for full Anchor, Madeira, Cosmo, and Sullivans equivalents.
