DMC 310 to Madeira: Thread Conversion

Madeira 2400 is an exact match in color. Madeira's cotton thread has a noticeably more pronounced sheen than DMC's, which can add a subtle richness to large filled areas of black — the stitches catch light slightly more, giving the black a less flat, more dimensional quality. Whether this is desirable depends on the design: for traditional blackwork embroidery, the sheen adds visual interest; for graphic-style outlines where flat, uniform black is the goal, DMC's more matte version may be preferred.
