Anchor 903 is a close match for this variegated gray-brown, and the overall stone-to-taupe character is preserved across the gradient range. Keep in mind that Anchor's variegated threads often have different gradient repeat lengths than DMC's — the color may shift at a slightly different pace along the strand, cycling through gray and brown tones at intervals that differ from the original. Stitch a test swatch before committing to a full project, especially in large fill areas where banding patterns become visible. The Anchor version may feel slightly more abrupt in its transitions compared to DMC's gentler drift between gray and brown.
