DMC 740 to Anchor: Thread Conversion

Anchor 316 is rated an exact match for DMC 740 Tangerine, but there's an important practical caveat: Anchor 316 also appears as an equivalent for DMC 970 (Light Pumpkin) in some conversion charts. These two DMC colors are meaningfully different — 740 is a pure, mathematically balanced orange while 970 leans warmer and more golden. If your design uses both 740 and 970, you cannot cover both with Anchor 316; you'll need to find a second Anchor shade for one of them. For designs using 740 alone, Anchor 316 is a genuine exact match and a reliable substitution.
