DMC 3021 to Cosmo: Thread Conversion

Cosmo 2542 is close and may drift slightly in either direction depending on the dye lot — potentially running a bit warmer (more purely brown) or cooler (more purely grey) than the DMC original. The eye is especially sensitive to temperature shifts in monochromatic or limited-palette work, so before substituting Cosmo 2542 into a sepia palette where DMC 3021 anchors the dark end, stitch a test column next to your other palette threads. A substitute that's even slightly too warm or too cool can throw off the entire value progression in a sepia scheme.
