DMC 117 to Madeira: Thread Conversion

Madeira 1006 is a close match in the medium blue range. As with all solid substitutes for variegated threads, you exchange the thread's inherent movement for consistency and predictability — a reasonable trade-off for motifs and borders, but a meaningful change for large atmospheric backgrounds. Madeira's characteristic sheen can add a slight sky-like luminosity to the solid blue, partially compensating for the lost variegation effect. If the design allows some flexibility, consider using Madeira 1006 for consistent areas and seeking a variegated blue for the main fill sections.
