Anchor 968 is a close match in the antique mauve territory, covering the greyed, desaturated pink range that makes DMC 113 valuable for reproduction and heritage work. It may carry slightly more warmth than DMC 113's particularly greyed, muted character — a subtle shift that could push the color from "authentically antique" toward merely "dusty pink." For reproduction samplers, mourning pieces, and heritage designs where the aged, heavily desaturated quality is essential to the period authenticity, test the Anchor thread on your actual fabric before committing to a large project. Hold it against an orange-red and a grey: it should feel more drawn toward grey than toward orange. The variegated gradient rhythm will also differ from DMC's, so a test swatch stitched on your project fabric under your working light is well worth the time, particularly for large background fills where the rhythm becomes visible.
